Exchange embed wireless antennas for external antennas on Netgear WNR3500L

File:wnr3500l.jpg
Netgear WNR3500L routers take advantage of third part Firmware like DD-WRT, Tomato, OpenWrt. Unfortunatly, embeded antennas have very low rendering if you plan to use this devices as Production Devices Like you probably did with old WRT54GL.

This device embeded a good Chipset (480 MHz), and enough memory to host advanced networking features (64 mo Ram + 8 mo Flash).

So the solution to fully take advantage of this device consist in exchanging Internal Antennas for external one. This will allow you to use it at 100mW Eirp without to much noise as the Tx power is limited.

Usefull tools:
- Torx screw driver
- Flat screw driver
- Pliers

How to
1 Remove the foot
2 Unscrew the top plastik panel

3 Drill 3 holes 6mm Diameter to place the RP-SMA connectors

4 Clips the three U.Fl RP-SMA pigtails

remove U.fl connector(video) / Fix U.fl connector(video)
5 Screw RP-SMA in their holes

Check that U.Fl connectors are still clipsed...If yes, close the device with its top plastik panel.

Here is what it should look like as soon you finished.
